ADVANCE, Mo. -- One person is dead after a one-car crash Thursday night on a rural highway east of Advance, and the driver of the car is suspected of manslaughter.
Amanda D, Allenbaugh, 28, of De Soto, Mo., was killed after the vehicle she was riding in ran off the roadway and overturned, striking several road signs and a utility pole around 11:45 p.m. on Route O, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The car's driver, Donald R. Smith, 35, of Marble Hill, Mo., had serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center. Both were ejected from the vehicle, according to the crash report. Neither Allenbaugh nor Smith was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol's crash report.
Smith was suspected of involuntary manslaughter following the crash, according to the patrol's online arrest reports. The circuit court in Stoddard County said Smith hadn't yet been charged with any crime as of Friday afternoon.
Allenbaugh was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Aaron Mathis.
