CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- A Chesterfield teenager faces a felony property damage charge after reportedly using cosmetics to deface a car she thought was improperly parked. St. Louis County prosecutors have charged 18-year-old Carlie A. Hertel with first-degree property damage. She is accused of smearing mascara on the windows and mirrors of a Nissan Infiniti at the Chesterfield Jewish Community Center in late June. The car's owner says the windshield and driver's side windows were also scratched. Police estimate the car endured more than $3,000 in damage. Hertel told police she also left behind an expletive-filled note that read in part, "How about you park your car like a normal person." She could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
