Question 1: What is the most important issue facing the 27th Senate District?

Answer: Creating Missouri jobs.? Much of the problem?has been on the federal level, but anything I can do to not raise taxes on the state and give relief to the family budget is very important. Also lessening our dependence on foreign oil will help all of us.? High gas prices affect everything we buy from the gas in our car to the food on our table.? I will work to increase our domestic oil production as well as alternative energy sources like, biofuels,?wind, solar, nuclear?and clean coal.?

Question 2: What in your background or education makes you qualified for this office?

Answer: I feel my experience as a state representative and senator have allowed me to learn about the issues and concerns affecting our area.?That may not be a formal education but it has helped me the most in understanding the key challenges we face.??Of course I would never have had the opportunity to serve the public had I not received my high school diploma from Cape Central High School and a B.S.B.A in economics from Southeast Missouri State University.?Growing up in Southeast Missouri I am honored to be in the Missouri Senate working everyday to make tomorrow better than today.

Question 3: Why are you better qualified than your opponent?

Answer: I will leave that to the voters to decide. I have always run positive campaigns about?my positions on the key issues.? I feel my common sense conservative values represent our values. I am 100% Pro-Life and 100% Pro-second amendment. I believe we should work to shrink the size of government and am honored to have been supported by a vast majority of the voters in Southeast Missouri.

Question 4: Should Missouri restore eligibility for Medicaid to the 2005 levels. Why or why not?

Answer: First, as it relates to the issue of health care, our focus should be on providing access to quality health care for all Missourians. With that in mind all options for providing access to quality health care are on the table for consideration. However, I think it is important to note we have increased Medicaid funding in state tax payer dollars by over $300 million since 2005.?When we made the eligibility changes in 2005, too many people on Medicaid were solely dependent on government. While others who had nowhere else to turn were not getting the help they needed. I will work to provide access to quality health care for all Missourians while living within our means and not raising taxes.

Question 5: What measures would have the most benefit for attracting new jobs to Missouri?

Answer: We are in a global economy?and we must compete not only with other states, but with foreign countries for quality jobs. Also the Right-to-Work is a huge issue that drives companies to Right-to-Work states like Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Kansas. I believe Missouri should address this reality.? In addition, we must not forget our existing Missouri employers, we must not undo the common sense reforms we have passed eliminating junk lawsuits and frivolous workers' compensation claims. As we ask Missouri employers to create more jobs we must not place higher taxes on Missourians or greater governmental red tape. I support expanding the Missouri's Quality Jobs Initiatives that has helped attract thousands of new jobs to Missouri.
