A probable-cause statement filed in connection with the case stated Barr told a Lee's Summit police detective he "accidentally" shot his brother, Aaron Elmore, on Wednesday. Barr said he was playing with his gun and didn't realize a bullet was in the chamber when he pulled the trigger.

Barr said he left and tossed his gun out of his vehicle's window while driving.

The statement said Barr did nothing to help his brother. It wasn't known whether Barr had an attorney.
