Missouri Foundation for Health makes emergency grants in hard-hit areas

The Missouri Foundation for Health awarded more than half a million dollars in emergency relief grants to 14 not-for-profit organizations in parts of Missouri effected by recent tornadoes and flooding.

The grants will provide relief to health-focused organizations aiding residents in weather-ravaged communities.

A total of $270,196 in flood assistance grants went to six Southeast Missouri organizations. Bootheel Counseling Services in Sikeston received $25,000, and Mississippi County Health Department in Charleston received $47,710. The New Madrid County Heath Department received $65,986, and $50,000 went to SEMO Health Network in New Madrid.

The Southeast Missouri Food Bank in Cape Girardeau received a grant of $64,000, and the United Gospel Rescue Mission in Poplar Bluff received $17,500.

Eight organizations in St. Louis and Joplin also received a total of $229,080 to help residents affected by recent tornadoes.
