Missouri's license offices will not process applications for new and renewed driver's licenses and permits Feb. 19 and 21 due to an upgrade of an information system, the Missouri Department of Revenue announced Tuesday.
The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators has informed all states about the upgrade.
According to the department, the system is used to ensure people applying for a license do not have any out-of-state driving violations, suspensions or revocations.
"I urge persons who have driver licenses expiring on one of those two days to get their licenses renewed before Feb. 19," said Alana M. Barragan-Scott, director of the Department of Revenue.
Offices will be able to complete other transactions, such as license plate renewals, vehicle titles and sales tax payments. About one-third of the state's 183 license office will be open on the dates of the upgrade.
