OZARK, Mo. -- Funeral services will take place today in southwest Missouri for Circuit Judge Mark Orr, who has died at the age of 54.

KOLR-TV reported Orr died Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. His mother-in-law, funeral home operator Mary Adams, told the station he had been diagnosed with melanoma in November.

Orr was elected Christian County prosecutor in 1994, then won election as an associate circuit judge in 2002. Four years later he was elected circuit judge for the 38th Circuit, comprising Christian and Taney counties, and was re-elected in 2012.

The Ozark resident is survived by his wife and two daughters. The funeral is scheduled at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church Ozark.
