MISSOURI AMBASSADORS OF MUSIC TO PERFORM TONIGHT

The Missouri Ambassadors of Music will give a concert at 7:30 tonight at Academic Auditorium.

The organization is composed of 197 students who perform in a concert band, choir, string orchestra and jazz band. They were selected on the basis of a recommendation from their high school music teacher.

Also part of the organization are 29 state band, choir and orchestra directors who serve as rehearsal directors and chaperones.

The personnel includes five teachers and 16 students from the Cape Girardeau/Jackson area.

The Missouri Ambassadors of Music will represent Missouri in a 16-day tour of seven European countries beginning Thursday and continuing through June 28. They will visit London, Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein and Germany.

The tour music director is Dr. Robert M. Gifford, coordinator of applied music and ensembles at Southeast.
