The Cape County Tea Party will host its monthly open meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark St.

Ryan Johnson, founder and president of the Missouri Alliance for Freedom, will be the guest speaker.

The alliance is a conservative advocacy and accountability group focused on advancing a conservative policy plan in Missouri and holding elected officials accountable, according to a news release from the Cape County Tea Party.

Johnson's goal is to change the political and policy landscape in favor of limited government, the release said.

Johnson, a graduate of the University of Central Missouri, is a veteran political professional and activist with more than a decade of experience serving in leadership roles on political campaigns and projects.

He has worked with some of the top political consultants in the country, a member of Congress and is a fundraiser and political strategist.

Johnson travels throughout Missouri, the release said, and has trained conservative leaders across the state on effective grassroots advocacy and fundraising strategies.

Before entering the public policy and political arena, Johnson spent eight years serving on active duty in two branches of the U.S. military. He first served as a U.S. Army combat engineer with the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, and later served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a corpsman with the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., where he maintained a White House security clearance.
