The Missouri Federation of Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) will hold its 30th annual convention Saturday at Cape Girardeau's Holiday Inn Convention Center.
The event begins at noon, and will conclude at 7 p.m.. It features sessions led by Herbert J. Arkebauer, a professor of speech and hearing science at Southwest Missouri State University and an AAL board members, and John F. Johnson Jr., president of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
Also, U.S. Sen. John C. Danforth will appear at the event to discuss the importance of volunteerism and the contributions made by Missouri Lutheran volunteers.
AAL fraternal assistance in Missouri last year totalled $2.6 million.
Convention workshops include: "It's About Time -- Balancing Work and Family," "Media and Our Families," "Committed to Excellence," and "Scratch 'Em Where They Itch -- Networking."
Entertainment will be provided by the New Creations Choir from Mid-America Teen Challenge in Cape Girardeau, and the Cape Girardeau Trinity Lutheran Church Bell Choir.
National award-winning volunteers and AAL branches will be honored at the convention.
