Nancy Scheibe, who kayaked the Mississippi River from its headwaters in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, will share her experiences in a presentation at 11 a.m. Oct. 29 at Southeast Missouri State University.

The "Grace, Guts and Gators" presentation will be in room 125 in Crisp Hall and is free to the public, according to a news release from the university. Scheibe, a Minnesota author and adventurer, wrote a trilogy of books about her expedition, the release said. The paddling journey was completed in three sections in 2004, 2007 and 2011. Along the way, she interviewed women and documented those stories in her books, along with the adventure and dangers found paddling the river, the release said.

After the presentation, a book-signing will be held and Scheibe's books, "Waves of Wisdom: Guts, Grace and Gators on the Lower Mississippi River," "Ripples of Wisdom: A Journey through Mud and Truth" and "Water Women Wisdom: Voices from the Upper Mississippi," will be for sale.
