A dense fog hovered over the Mississippi River, drawing strength from the moisture and frigid air. Rachel Trevino, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., said clear skies, cool temperatures and still air are the precursors for fog. Tonight's weather calls for clouds, meaning morning motorists likely won't have to deal with the Mississippi mist today. However, the forecast for tonight is clear skies and calm winds, meaning another round of daybreak haze is possible Friday.
