A 56-year-old man from Mississippi is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Oak Ridge after they met through a 1-800 number she had seen on television, according to police reports.
Michael W. Lambert of McLain, Mississippi, is charged with three counts of felony statutory rape and two counts of felony second-degree statutory sodomy.
An arrest warrant for Lambert was filed Tuesday, and he remained at large Wednesday night.
The victim only new Lambert as Cody; he told her he was 36 years old and from Mississippi, according to a probable-cause report from Cape Girardeau Sheriff’s Department detective Jaime Holloway.
The victim said they talked multiple times throughout 2015 and traded text messages and pictures through their cellphones, the report stated.
In early December, Lambert visited the victim for the first time, climbing through her bedroom window, according to the report.
The victim said they had sex three times, the report states. Lambert also gave her clothing and an iPhone, according to the report.
Holloway checked hotel records at the Jackson Drury Inn & Suites and confirmed Lambert had been there Dec. 3, 9, 17 and 29 and Jan. 7 and 12, the report stated. The hotel’s general manager identified Lambert as a guest, Holloway wrote. The victim also identified Lambert from a photo lineup, according to the report.
Lambert’s bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety with the conditions he could not leave Missouri and could not have contact of the victim.
