CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Mississippi County inmate faces an additional charge after allegedly attempting to influence his victim to change testimony.
Laterence Antonia Caldwell, 24, of Charleston was charged with tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution after jail administrator Cory Hutcheson noticed outgoing mail from Caldwell to the victim in his domestic assault case.
Hutcheson determined the purpose of the letter was to dissuade the victim from testifying against him at an upcoming court hearing, according to a news release.
Caldwell was arrested Sept. 29 on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony and domestic assault, according to online court records. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges at 10 a.m. today before Associate Judge T. Lynn Brown.
