EUREKA, Ill. -- The mysterious disappearance of Woodford County Sheriff Bill Myers -- who went missing after questions were raised about thousands of dollars in charges to department credit cards -- may have been solved.
Myers was admitted to BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal Oct. 31 and was there at least through Thursday for an undisclosed condition, the (Peoria) Journal Star reported Friday, citing sources it did not name.
The sheriff disappeared shortly after county board members raised questions about $28,000 in credit card charges, including cash advances and at least one automated teller machine withdrawal made at a strip club. Earlier this week, the county jail superintendent said similar charges -- possibly totaling another $27,000 -- were posted without his knowledge to another county credit card.
