ALTO PASS, Ill. -- Police have found the truck of an Alto Pass, Ill., man who has been missing for nearly a month.

Walter Gibbs Sr., 73, was last seen Dec. 11 while driving to Thebes to visit friends.

Friday, his truck was discovered in an area of Mississippi County called Thompson Bin, a northeastern part of the county near the river, said a spokesman for the Mississippi County sheriff.

Gibbs had been driving the truck when he disappeared.

He had his guitar with him because he was going to play music with a group of friends he'd visited every Tuesday evening for years.

His guitar case and a shoe were found at the scene.

Family and friends have been worried about Gibbs because he had begun displaying early signs of Alzheimer's and suffered heart problems.

Today, police are expected to search the rough rural area surrounding where the truck was found using all-terrain vehicles.
