Miss Jackson, Merideth McDowell of Sikeston, will be available for speaking engagements during the month of May, in particular May 15-25. McDowell is a freshman at Southeast Missouri State University and will represent Jackson at the Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant this June. She is a mass communications/journalism major and plans to pursue a career in Journalism. Her platform (area of community service) for the Miss Missouri Program is "The Magic of Self-Esteem -- I CAN!"
In presenting a program to local groups, McDowell can speak on her community service project and the results of the programs she gives to elementary school aged children. She can also speak about her experiences in the pageant system and the Miss America Scholarship Program. She will answer questions from the audience and tailor her speech to each group's needs.
McDowell would like to visit with as many Jackson area civic groups and schools as she can during her time in Jackson.
