The Cape Girardeau Ministerial Alliance seeks nominations for its annual Martin Luther King award.
The award is presented to a person each year who helps better the community through acts of unselfishness and who best models the ideals of justice and freedom while using nonviolent principles.
"There are no requirements of age or race. This is basically the content of their character," said the Rev. Phil Curran, who is coordinating the application process.
Nomination applications are available by calling Curran at First Christian Church, 335-3422. Applications must be received by Dec. 22 for the ministerial alliance committee to review them and make its selection.
Applications require a short essay that explains who the person is and what accomplishments they have made to help the community.
The award will be presented at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 during the communitywide service that will be held at Greater Dimension Church of God in Christ in Cape Girardeau.
