SIKESTON -- Last week, patrons of Taco Bell were shaken when an explosive device was detonated outside of the business. One man is now in custody for making the device.

Arrested was Christopher Wesley Beasley, 20, of Miner who is charged with "knowingly exploding." His bond is set at $50,000 and he is expected to be transported to Scott County Jail today.

The arrest stems from the Jan. 19 incident, when at approximately 9:45 p.m. the explosive device was detonated next to Taco Bell at 1413 E. Malone. There was minimal damage done by the homemade device made from fireworks. There were no injuries.

An extensive investigation was launched by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, the Missouri Fire Marshal's office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

"It was an extensive investigation," said Capt. Dan Armour of Sikeston DPS who praised the work of investigators and the assistance of the State Fire Marshal and ATF.

Further charges may be filed against Beasley, DPS officials noted.
