A Millersville woman who tried to fraudulently obtain prescription medicine for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder at a Cape Girardeau pharmacy was sentenced to five years of supervised probation Monday.
Tara Farrow, 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance. She was arrested by Cape Girardeau police in July after trying to purchase Adderall at John's Pharmacy.
Farrow was originally charged with six counts of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance, but four counts were dropped after her guilty plea, said Cape Girardeau County assistant prosecuting attorney Angel Woodruff. Farrow was given two consecutive four-year prison sentences that Judge Benjamin Lewis suspended.
Along with her probation, Farrow must complete the Teen Challenge program or she could face up to 15 years in jail, Woodruff said. Teen Challenge is a nationwide, Christian-based program that treats drug and alcohol abuse.
