The Missouri Landscape and Nursery Association has elected their officers for the 1998-99 term. The officers were elected at the MLNA/KNLA Summer Meeting and Trade Show recently held in Kansas City, Mo.
Elected as president of the Missouri Landscape and Nursery Association was Chris Lix of Millersville, Mo. Chris is with Lix's Quality Nursery, Inc. in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
In 1977, Lix began his career in the nursery and landscape field. He first worked at Ozark Trails Landscaping and then joined Frank's Nursery in Jackson, Mo., in 1979. During high school he attended horticulture classes at Cape Girardeau Area Vocational Technical School, graduating in 1982.
Upon graduation, Lix attended Southeast Missouri State University. In 1983, Lix Nursery was founded. What began as a one-man crew quickly grew into the need to open a retail nursery store and garden center. Lix's Quality Nursery, Inc. opened its doors in 1987 between Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Mo.
In addition to the store and landscaping, Lix also has 550 acres in Millersville where he farms nursery stock and raises cattle.
Lix's wife Saundra is the corporation's office manager. Their sons, Joshua, Ethan and Wyatt, also help out in the business.
