All 12 members of the Millersville Rural Fire District who resigned at a Monday board meeting have been reinstated, said fire board member Jim Roche.

The board held an emergency board meeting Wednesday night to discuss reorganization of the 22-member district, sliced in half by the resignations.

Though not all 12 members who resigned Monday were present at the emergency meeting, Roche said they are all welcome to return to the department.

"If they're willing to come back, we're willing to take them back," Roche said.

Chief Jerry Aufdenburg said he made the decision to resign after a series of disagreements between members of the district and a maintenance officer who had overspent his budget.

Roche said he spoke with the officer and asked him to throttle back on the spending.

"It's getting toward the end of the year, and we like to have a cushion in the budget," Roche said.

In the wake of Wednesday's discussions, Roche said he feels confident the disagreements have been ironed out.

"I think we've pretty well got our problem solved," he said.
