MILLERSVILLE -- A 22-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a three-car accident that ripped his Ford Thunderbird in half.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the unidentified man crested a hill out of control at 8:15 p.m. on Highway 72 a mile west of Millersville.
The patrol said the eastbound Thurderbird was broadsided by a westbound full-size Chevrolet pickup. The impact tore the car in two, and the rear section collided with another westbound pickup truck.
The driver of that truck, Howard Payne, 30, of Malden was uninjured.
Two unidentified people in the full-size truck, the driver and a lone passenger, were transported by ambulance and helicopter to Cape Girardeau hospitals. Their injuries weren't considered life-threatening.
Payne was the only one in the accident who was wearing a seat belt.
