Gary Miller, music professor at Southeast Missouri State University, will present a pipe organ recital Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
Miller will perform works by the French organist-composer Louis Vierne (1870-1937).
Vierne, blind from birth, became organist at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, where he remained for 37 years.
He toured the United States in 1926, playing more than 50 solo recitals as a means of raising money for renovations of Notre Dame's huge cathedral organ.
Miller's program will include several of Vierne's "Pieces in Free Style," as well as his "Symphony No. 1 for Organ."
An Iowa native, Miller holds degrees form the University of Norton Iowa, the University of Michigan and the Staaliche Hochschule fuer Musik in Cologne, Germany.
The concert is free.
