2005 graduate enlists in Army National Guard; Guardsman receives sergeant's stripes

Benton resident receives promotion at armory

Jason Plain, son of Les and Rebecca Plain of Benton, Mo., was promoted to the rank of Private 2nd Class during drill at the Cape Girardeau Armory. Plain, a member of the Missouri Army National Guard's Forward Support Company 1140th Engineer Battalion, graduated from Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton in 1996. He resides in Benton and is employed by Crown Cadillac Nissan in Cape Girardeau.

2005 graduate enlists in Army National Guard

Timothy L. Hill Jr. recently enlisted as a member of the Missouri Army National Guard's Forward Support Company, 1140th Engineer Battalion in Cape Girardeau. Hill, son of Timothy Sr. and Betty Hill of Advance, graduated from Advance High School in 2005. He will attend basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., in the near future. Hill resides in Advance where he works in agriculture.

Guardsman receives sergeant's stripes

Beau Mewhirter, son of George and Mary Mewhirter of Malden, was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant at the Cape Girardeau Armory. Mewhirter is a member of the Missouri Army National Guard's Forward Support Company, 1140th Engineer Battalion where he works full-time. He graduated from Malden High School in 1999 and resides near Shawneetown with his wife, Brandi, and his daughters, Madison and Lindsay.
