Area natives achieve in U.S. Navy, Marine Corps
The U.S. Navy recently announced achievements of several Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois natives.
Marine Corps Cpl. John M. Chaney, son of Brenda R. Hill of Anna, Ill., was recently promoted to his current rank based on superior job performance. He is a 1998 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro High School and joined the Marine Corps soon after graduation.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Lindsey B. Dirden, son of Linda P. and Joseph H. Dirden of Cape Girardeau, recent complete a nuclear power training course in Goose Creek, S.C. Dirden is a 2001 graduate of Central High School.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Corey W. Collins, a 2000 graduate of Chaffee High School, was promoted to his current rank while serving aboard the USS Comstock, home ported in San Diego, Calif. The promotion was based on superior job performance.
