Griffin ends basic training in U.S. Navy
Navy Seaman Brian C. Griffin, son of Carla S. and Larry E. Griffin of Jonesboro, Ill., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Griffin is a 2002 graduate of Anna Jonesboro High School, Anna, Ill.

Area soldiers help secure elections in Iraq
Marine Corps Lance Cpls. David L. Willis, Brandy L. Guerrero and Thomas J. Foote, with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, recently helped provide security for elections in Najaf, Iraq. Willis' wife, Jarin, is the daughter of Becky Robison and Ivan Robison, both of Sikeston, Mo. Guerrero is the daughter of Kathleen Allen of Perryville, Mo. She is a 2002 graduate of Perryville High School. Guerrero joined the Marine Corps in September 2002. Foote is the son of Linda F. Brown of Sikeston and a 1998 graduate of Sikeston High School. Foote joined the Marine Corps in October 2001.
