Agnew deployed to support war on terror

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Army Pfc. Clayton M. Agnew has recently been deployed to a forward operating location to support the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Enduring Freedom is the official name given to the biggest U.S. military mobilization since the Gulf War in 1991. Members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces have been deployed and reserve components activated to support the war against global terrorism, combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside of the United States.

Agnew is a paratrooper normally assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. He is the son of Terri R. Simmerock of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Terry M. Agnew of Perryville. He is a 2001 graduate of Park Hills Central High School.

Allen promoted to master sergeant in Air Force

Dale L. Allen was recently promoted to master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is a specialist expediter for the B-1, B-52 and B-2 bombers. Allen entered the military after graduating from University High School.

The son of Harry and Marie Allen of Cape Girardeau, Allen is stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California, along with his wife, Beth, and two sons, Ryan and Brandon.

Steiner promoted to rank of commander

Mark Steiner was recently promoted to the rank of commander. He was commissioned by the Navy Chaplain Corps in 1988 and has served in Desert Storm, at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Ill., at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and was deployed in Jordan.

He currently serves as the deputy executive assistant to the chief of chaplains in Washington, D.C. He has received numerous military decorations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Corps Commendation Medal and the Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Steiner is the son of Bernice and the late Gilbert Steiner of Jackson.-- From staff reports
