Area man's Navy unit deployed in Kuwait; Perryville recruit finishes basic training in Calif.; Henderson concludes U.S. Navy basic training

Area man's Navy unit deployed in Kuwait

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Andreas D. Baker, son of Sammie J. and Robert E. Baker of Cape Girardeau, and the reserve sailors of Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Force, based out of Williamsburg, Va., are currently in the middle of a routine scheduled deployment to Camp Patriot, Kuwait. Baker's unit provides critical combat logistics support to soldiers and Marines in Iraq and Kuwait. Baker is a 1979 graduate of Central High School and joined the Navy in June 1979.

Perryville recruit finishes basic training in Calif.

Marine Corps Pvt. Steven C. Seyer, son of Lisa and Kenneth L. Seyer of Perryville, Mo., recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. The training is designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. Seyer is a 2004 graduate of Perryville High School.

Henderson concludes U.S. Navy basic training

Navy Airman Apprentice James S. Henderson, son of Pamela G. and Craig S. Henderson of Scott City, recently completed the eight-week U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Henderson is a 2004 graduate of Scott City High School.
