Cape grad finishes basic, readies for next course

Matt Daniels, son of Clark and Vicki Daniels of Cape Girardeau and Ken and Laura Teardo of Port St. Lucie, Fla., graduated from Marine Corps basic training in San Diego, Calif., recently. Daniels is a 2003 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau. After a 10-day leave, he will return to Camp Pendleton, Calif., for three weeks of Marine combat training.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Terence L. Robinson, son of Irma L. Robinson of Cape Girardeau and Robert E. Robinson of Lilbourn, Mo., recently returned from a routine deployment while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu, which is based in San Diego, Calif. During the deployment, Robinson's unit conducted humanitarian assistance and missions in Iraq. The unit also patrolled international waters in the Red Sea and around the Horn of Africa to deter transport of terrorist personnel and equipment. Robinson is a 1985 graduate of Parkland High School of El Paso, Texas. He joined the Navy in September 1991.

Navy recruit finishes basic, gets promoted

Navy Seaman Apprentice Boone E. Thompson, son of Ann M. Thompson of Sikeston, Mo., and Dusty S. Thompson of Huntsville, Texas, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training and was promoted to his current rank at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2001 graduate of Sikeston High School.
