A mild earthquake has shaken Southeast Missouri, with no immediate reports of damage or injury.

The U.S. Geological Survey said on its website that the tremor struck at 6:32 p.m. Thursday, about 75 miles southwest of Cape Girardeau near the small Carter County town of Grandin. The epicenter was at a depth of 10 miles.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 -- strong enough to be felt but not likely to cause damage.

Residents from Illinois to Arkansas reported feeling the quake on the survey's website.

A magnitude-4.2 quake struck Sullivan, Mo., in June. A magnitude-2.8 temblor struck 15 miles southwest of Cape Girardeau in November.
