The food at the upcoming Y2K Eve Party will all be "wonderful," said Beverly Noffel, one of the chairmen of the party's food committee.
Noffel and other members of the food committee recently attended a tasting of food that will be served at the party, which will be held Dec. 31 at the Show Me Center. Tickets are $100 per person and include dinner and a midnight brunch."It was all delicious," she said of the food at the tasting. "We were really pleased."Tasting the food prepared by Chartwells, which will cater the party, were Noffel, Jackie Clark-Otto and Jeanine Dobbins. The buffet-style dinner will feature two entrees. Noffel said her personal favorite of the two is the Chicken Florentine, which will be served on a bed of spinach with alfredo sauce. But she added the beef tenderloin with bordelaise over wild rice was also very good. Rounding out the menu will be Greek salad, oven-roasted vegetable medley, potatoes gratin with whole-grain mustard, white, wheat and tomato basil rolls and whole breads, coffee or tea. Noffel also raved about the dessert selection, which will include chocolate bourbon pecan pie, bread pudding with praline sauce and coffee brandy mousse. Wine will be available with dinner for an extra charge. Wines available will be Lindemans Padthaway Chardonnay, Benzinger Merlot and Binzinger Fume Blanc. The midnight brunch will feature mini bagels with flavored cream cheese, whole and sliced fruit, cherry and brown sugar stolens, assorted quiches, sweet breads and coffee. The $100 admission price also will include two drink tickets and a bottle of Domaine St. Michele champagne for each table of eight. Those who attend will also received a souvenir program, souvenir champagne glass and party favors. The Y2K Eve Party is open to the public.
