MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The father and son charged in connection with the March shooting of a Bollinger County woman appeared in court Wednesday for their arraignments.

According to Bollinger County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Gray, Robert Edward Morgan, 58, appeared before Circuit Judge Scott Thomsen without legal counsel and had his case continued to Wednesday so he could obtain representation. Robert Edward Morgan's son, Robert Keller Morgan, 24, was represented by public defender Christopher Davis and waived arraignment. Thomsen set May 15 as the date for Robert Keller Morgan's preliminary hearing, Gray said.

Both men were arrested March 26 after the shooting of Nichole Morgan, 31, in rural Bollinger County.

Nichole Morgan, the wife of Robert Keller Morgan, told authorities she had been shot in the stomach by her father-in-law, Robert Edward Morgan, during a dispute he was having with her husband. Nichole Morgan received treatment at Saint Francis Medical Center for her injury and was released.

Robert Edward Morgan was charged with first-degree assault with serious physical injury, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and two counts of child endangerment. Robert Keller Morgan was charged with second-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest.
