Men arrested for allegedly fleeing police after being asked to show fishing license

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Two men asked to show their fishing licenses in Perry County were arrested Sunday after they tried to flee from a Missouri Department of Conservation agent.

David Snider, 37, of Marble Hill, Mo., and Mike Allen, 32, of Corning, Ark., were in custody at the Perry County Jail, according to a news release from Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf.

According to the release, conservation agent Grant Gelly called the department for assistance at about 5 p.m. Sunday when the two men allegedly fled in a pickup truck after the agent attempted to stop them and check fishing licenses. The men were alleged to be fishing on Perry County Road 702 near Perry County Lake.

A deputy spotted the truck on a nearby county road a few minutes later and gave chase. Allen was apprehended after the truck became stuck in a field. Snider, who also had an active warrant from Bollinger County, escaped but was arrested Monday morning on Highway 51 near Perryville.

Charges for fleeing and resisting arrest and summonses for no fishing licenses are pending for both men.
