MOUNDS, Ill. -- A Memorial of the Unborn was dedicated in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery here Sunday, reported George Bell of Mounds, coordinator of the dedication, which was a project of Knights of Columbus Council 1027.
Bell said about 90 people attended the dedication, which featured an address by Monsignor Bernard Sullivan, chancellor of the Roman Catholic Belleville Diocese of South Central and Southern Illinois.
The site was chosen by resolution of the National Knights of Columbus, he said, and was selected because it is the most accessible in the Cape Girardeau, Carbondale and Paducah area. The memorial is dedicated to women who have lost their babies, Bell said.
A dinner and dance were held in conjunction with the dedication, helping to raise $400 that was donated to the Crisis Center at Carbondale, said Bell.
