The project includes concrete resurfacing and shoulder replacement on the southbound I-55 lane from a mile south of I-155 to two miles north of the Arkansas state line. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission earlier this month awarded a $11.4 million contract for the work.

During construction, traffic in the southbound lanes will be diverted onto the northbound lanes. Two interchanges will be closed for safety reasons.

The work is scheduled to begin on the project in March with completion anticipated by the end of the year. However, the ramps are not expected to be closed the entire time the roadway improvement project is under way.
