KELSO -- The Kelso C-7 School District will hold an informational meeting Thursday to discuss an upcoming tax increase.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the School Hall at New Hamburg.
Superintendent Darryl Sauer said information presented will deal with Senate Bill 380. One requirement of the law requires school districts to have a minimum tax levy of $2.75 for the 1994-95 school year.
Presently the Kelso district has a tax rate of $2. The board, according to the law, could increase the tax, but Sauer said the school board is asking for voter approval.
"We are looking at an increase of $1.23," Sauer said. "(State Auditor) Margaret Kelley says our tax ceiling is $1.54."
Voters will decide the matter April 5.
