Two men who stole thousands of dollars worth of narcotics and controlled drugs early Saturday were videotaped by a surveillance camera.
Cape Girardeau police responded to an alarm at the Medicine Shoppe, 864 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau, at 12:47 a.m. Saturday, Sgt. Barry Hovis said. Officers arrived minutes later to find the store's front door smashed and no one inside.
A surveillance video recorded two men going behind the pharmacy counter and filling a trash can with the contents of the store's narcotics drawer. Hovis said a list of the drugs taken was still being compiled by store managers Monday.
The suspects wore black gloves. One man was wearing a gold and black cap, a black jacket, dark-colored jeans and white shoes and was carrying a crowbar. The other man wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white shoes and carried a tan tote bucket.
Another surveillance camera recorded the men driving away in a 2000 to 2004 model light to medium colored Chevrolet Malibu.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 335-6621.
