THEBES, Ill. -- Residents here elected David D. McNeely mayor in Tuesday's election.
Voters also selected trustees for village boards in Thebes and East Cape Girardeau.
McNeely ran unopposed for mayor in Thebes. He collected 51 votes.
Prior to the election, he was serving as village mayor pro-tem. He was appointed to the post by the Thebes Village Board of Trustees following the death of Mayor John Masterson.
Thebes voters also elected three trustees who were unopposed. The trustees, and the votes they received, are: Billie Walsh, 51 votes; Clyde Dunn, 37 votes; and Blanche Prater, 37 votes.
In East Cape Girardeau, three incumbent trustees were re-elected Tuesday. None of the candidates faced an opponent.
The East Cape Girardeau trustees are James Lingle, 22 votes; Donnie Joe Kaufman, 20 votes; and William Colyer, 19 votes.
