U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill today will tour areas in Missouri hit hardest by the recent string of natural disasters.
McCaskill plans to travel to Poplar Bluff, Mo., to visit areas deeply impacted by the severe flooding, according to a news release.
"McCaskill intends to thank volunteers and community members working around the clock to bring people to safety and prevent further damage to the area," the release states.
The senator will hold a short press conference at the Black River Coliseum at 2:45 p.m., where she will give updates from her visit.
Water from the Black River is flowing over the top of the levee, which was breached in one spot Monday. The flood danger has displaced about 1,000 people and put homes in and around the town in danger.
