CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill will deliver the winter commencement address when 740 students graduate at Southeast Missouri State University on Dec. 21. U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-St. Louis, will deliver the commencement address when students receive degrees at Southeast Missouri State University's graduation at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Show Me Center, according to a news release from the university.

About 740 students -- including 574 undergraduates, 118 graduate and specialist students and four cooperative doctoral students -- will receive degrees, the release said.

An Honors Convocation will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Show Me Center for 201 undergraduates, 43 receiving master's degrees and nine receiving specialist degrees. Dr. Mike Aide, professor of agriculture and chairman of the Department of Agriculture at Southeast, will present the Honors Convocation address. He is the 2013 recipient of the University's Faculty Merit Award.

The Southeast Brass Quintet, under the coordination of Marc Fulgham, will perform at commencement. Megan Statler, a graduating senior from Perryville, Mo., will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" and alma mater.
