Jason McBride has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

To earn the highest award in Scouting, McBride earned 26 merit badges and devoted more than 40 hours completing a service project. McBride planned and placed a flagpole and memorial plaque in memory of Col. Louis Unfer at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

McBride, 15, is a sophomore at Cape Central High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McBride.

He has been a member of Troop 2 for five years. The troop is sponsored by Grace United Methodist Church. Scoutmaster is Charles Brown.

At age seven, McBride was a member of the first Tiger Cub Den organized in Cape Girardeau at Pack 18, and he has been active in Scouting since.
