JACKSON -- So far, Jackson residents won't see any new names on the ballot when they vote for four aldermen.

Mayor Paul Sander filed for his third term, Ward Three Alderwoman Val Tuschhoff for her fourth term and Ward Four Alderman Jack Piepenbrok for his sixth.

Alderman Kerry Hoffman will run for his first full two-year term. He was appointed to fill a one-year unexpired term in 1995.

Tuesday marked the first day Jackson residents could file for the Board of Aldermen or the mayor's position.

Alderman David Hitt said Monday that he planned to file for his third term, but he had to be out of town on Tuesday.

Sander is the fourth generation of his family to hold public office. His great-grandfather was a county commissioner in the 1920s, his grandfather was mayor of Jackson and later a county commissioner in the 1940s and his father was a county commissioner from 1972-92.

Sander served seven years as an alderman before being elected mayor in 1993. He and his wife, Pam, have two sons.

Mayor Pro-tem Piepenbrok said he wanted to continue serving on the board to complete some of the projects Sander mentioned. He particularly wants to see the finish of the East Main extension. Piepenbrok and his wife, Beverly, have two grown children.

Val Tuschhoff, owner of Val's Upholstery in Jackson, said she wants to continue her job on the board because of Jackson's remarkable growth.

"After six years on the board, I know which direction we need to go," she said.

Those interested in filing for the board may do so during business hours at Jackson City Hall.
