Gov. Matt Blunt appointed three Southeast Missouri residents to positions on state boards.
Julie A. Robinson, 33, of Cape Girardeau will be the medical representative on the Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board. Robinson is a registered nurse at Southeast Missouri State University and Saint Francis Medical Center who holds a bachelor's degree in nursing and general studies from Southeast Missouri State University. Robinson's appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. Her term will run through April 7, 2010.
The Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board was first established in 1994. It provides a venue for people to contest child abuse and neglect determinations by the Missouri Children's Division of the Department of Social Services except in instances where the determination has been upheld by a court action.
James M. Lakenan, 54, of Perryville, Mo., was appointed to be the emergency management representative on the Seismic Safety Commission, for a term ending July 1, 2010. Lakenan is emergency management and E-911 director for Perry County.
The Seismic Safety Commission assesses the state's readiness to respond to a major earthquake, reviews preparations and makes recommendations to state and local governments as well as to private industry on steps to enhance preparedness.
Lakenan's appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
Jason S. Eftink, 33, of Jackson was reappointed to the State Rehabilitation Council, an arm of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Eftink is president of Technology and Marketing Inc. The council evaluates division programs and advises it on issues relating to eligibility, services and other aspects of the divisions work.
