The Southeast Missouri State University Theater will stage the production of "Matilda" for school matinees and a public session April 15 at 7 p.m.
There will be a matinee performance on Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m.
"Matilda" is a children's show based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Roald Dahl. It has been adapted for the stage by Sharon Bebout, who is assistant professor of speech communication and theater at Southeast.
The play centers around Matilda, a clever young girl who finds herself surrounded by adults who do not understand her and feel threatened by her intelligence.
The audience follows her adventures through her isolation, her exciting first day of school, her discovery of a new friend and her conflict with the terrible Miss Trunchbull, who threatens to destroy everything Matilda loves.
All tickets are $1.50. The University Theater Box Office, located on the corner of Pacific and Normal, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning April 5. Tickets may also be reserved by calling 651-2265.
