Math star and sisters won't have Christmas

Seven year old Taylor loves math. He also thinks monster trucks, Transformers, and super heroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man are great! But his mom is divorced with no child support, and Christmas will be spent at home with nothing under the tree. She has a full-time job but her pay barely covers day care, rent, utilities and car expenses which allow her to work. Each month she has less than $150 to pay for gas to go to work, and any extras like diapers, toilet paper and a needed oil change. She won't be able to provide toys for her children without the help of Toybox. Taylor's sisters love girly stuff like books, Barbie, Dora the Explorer and baby dolls. Like the 1,200 children ages 1-12, being served locally by Toybox this year you can help make a meaningful Christmas! Please bring new toys to any of the Toybox locations, including the Southeast Missourian. Or you can make a monetary donation to Toybox, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO, 63702. For all of our needy Toybox families here are some popular requests: Board games, race cars, trucks, dolls, learning toys, puzzles, books, Hannah Montana, Spider-Man, balls, drawing materials, Dora the Explorer, Indiana Jones, High School Musical items.

Elderly woman asks for warm clothes, food for dog

Mrs. G has health problems that require supervision and, for now, she is living with a family member in her home, but her fixed income barely covers medical and other expenses. With the cold weather she needs a few warm items like a coat with hood size 14, large housecoat, large nightgown, 4 soft pillows, a full-size sheet set, and for her dog, small kibble in small bags and a few dog treats and toys. She wears a size 8 1/2 boot, size 8 underwear and 36C bra. You can help Mrs. G and other needy elderly people in our area by buying these needed items, including personal grooming items, cleaning supplies and grocery gift cards and delivering to the Southeast Missourian. Or make a monetary donation to Christmas for the Elderly, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, MO 63702. All elderly served are living independently on limited incomes with few, if any, family members. They would appreciate your sharing spirit.
