The audience at the Show Me Center will soon watch somebody's rock star fantasy become real for a night.
Headliners matchbox twenty will choose one fan/musician in the audience to join them onstage during their concert Dec. 7. The performance will be filmed for broadcast next spring on the cable TV show "VH1's You Rock with ..."
Three musicians chosen from auditions earlier this month in Los Angeles will sit in VIP seats during the Show Me Center concert, waiting for matchbox twenty to choose one of them to play a song with the band.
During their auditions, the finalists were required to play the guitar solo in the band's current hit "Bright Lights."
"VH1's You Rock with ..." previously was called "Ambushed!" Part of that show's format called for the producers to surprise the finalists and jet them to a concert. Now the emphasis is on the concert.
The Show Me Center was chosen as the site to film the performance with matchbox twenty because it worked best with the band's schedule.
Manuel Bracamonte, line producer for the production company Evolution Film & Tape Inc., was in Portland, Ore., Monday filming a "You Rock with ..." episode featuring the band Barenaked Ladies. He said finalists chosen from the auditions are all "big fans and excellent musicians."
Poison is the only other band filmed so far in the series' new incarnation.
