Mary Anna Savoy, 78, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at her residence.
She was born March 24, 1945, in Illinois, daughter of the Rev. Fred and Anna Young Heckathorn. She and George Savoy Jr. were married Dec. 19, 1987. He preceded her in death April 18, 2004.
Mary graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree. She was of the Lutheran faith.
She was a selfless and kind-hearted mother and grandmother. She was the rock of her family and was deeply loved by her family. Mary loved her cats and considered them to be part of her family.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Marjorie (Ashley) Eddleman of Marble Hill; a sister, Esther (Myron) Bohnert of Jackson; two grandchildren, Trenton Eddleman and Keira Savoy, both of Marble Hill; and a nephew, Aaron Bohnert of Phoenix, Arizona.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Heckathorn Jr.; and a sister, Ruth Heckathorn.
Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 22, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Darrell Back officiated the service. Burial followed in Lixville Cemetery.
