The members of Cpl. Mason O. Yarbrough Detachment of the Marine Corps League recently recognized two members for their service at its annual "Mess Night."

Receiving the Legion of Honor awards from the Chapel of Four Chaplains this year were two members of the Corporal Mason O. Yarbrough Detachment of the Marine Corps League. These awards are for "selfless service above and beyond" what would normally be expected.

The Chapel of Four Chaplains, named for four Army chaplains who sacrificed their only means of survival as their ship sank to save other soldiers during World War II, represented the Catholic, Dutch Reform, Jewish and Methodist faiths.

Bill Humphries was cited for his work with a handicapped Marine and the Boy Scouts in the Cape Girardeau area.

Tom Zych was recognized for his work with veterans confined to veterans homes in Cape Girardeau, St. Charles and St. Louis, leading to a statewide Marine Corps League effort to assist veterans home residents.
