Marianne Cook, a sophomore at Southeast Missouri State University, was recently inducted into Phi Eta Sigma sorority. She was one of 109 freshmen inducted. Phi Eta Sigma is a national scholastic honor society for college freshmen and has over 300 chapters throughout the United States.

The goal of Phi Eta Sigma is to encourage and reward high scholastic attainment among first-year students in institutions of higher learning. The students honored at this ceremony have attained a grade point average of 3.5 or better during their first semester or year at college.

She is the daughter of Ken and Diane Cook of rural Chaffee and a 1998 graduate of Delta High School She plans on majoring in nursing.
